44-Year-Old Killed After Being Struck By Car While Working On Pickup Truck On Long Island Road

A man who was working on a pickup truck on a Long Island roadway was killed after being struck by a car.

A 54-year-old East Patchogue woman was driving a 2009 Hyundai Elantra southbound on Kennedy Avenue near Pine Street when the vehicle struck a man working on a 2006 Dodge Ram parked on the northbound side of the road.

The man, Oscar Lopez-Machado, age 44, of Centereach, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. 

The driver of the Elantra was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for evaluation.
